Position Description:

The Sanborn Map Company is looking to fill a Natural Resources GIS Analyst position.

Join Sanborn’s award-winning team! Sanborn is looking for a Natural Resources GIS Analyst to provide Geospatial Support Project utilizing GIS background and expertise and experience with ESRI GIS and Adobe Creative Cloud software. Work on this project shall require GIS knowledge, geospatial analysis, cartographic design and map production skillsets. This position is located in Vallejo, CA however; travel may occur to other Government locations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Soils, Geology, Hydrology, Geography or related degree. Master’s degree in GIS is highly desired.
•One year of intensive and progressive experience requiring extensive use of GIS and related tools.
OR
•Alternate Requirements: 11 years of intensive and progressive experience in a field requiring extensive use of GIS and related tools accompanied by a High School degree or equivalent.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Work-related experience pertaining to natural resource management
•Expertise using ESRI's ArcGIS
•Relational database management skills
•Cartographic design skills
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Knowledge and demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office software.
•Excellent attention to detail.
•Well organized
•Knowledge of USFS GIS data structures, National Application structures, and other agency structures

In addition, it is desirable that the candidate also have the following skills:
•Expertise using Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat.
•Ability to learn ParcelQuest

TASKS
Tasks under this project shall include:
GIS Project Support
•Requires the use of corporate and other agency Geographic Information System data to perform GIS analysis and produce maps for projects.
•Data capture, scanning, digitizing, map attributing, editing, plotting and reporting as required
•Under direction of regional data steward enter spatial and tabular data in the Land Status Record System (LSRS)
Map Librarian/Data Distribution
•Manage Regional digital data and NAIP imagery distribution for Geospatial staff as well as maintenance of historical map publication library for Geospatial staff, the Region and the public.
•Maintain map inventory databases and procedures for both NRM and Fire and Aviation staff areas
Legislative Map Support
•Use analytical GIS skills and knowledge of digital cartography to assist in the production of high quality maps at request of Congress (official drafting requests) and for inclusion in Legislative bills.
•Work directly with Regional Public Affairs liaison and agency personnel to help plan, design and provide wilderness legislation maps conforming to accuracy and content standards.
•Geo-referencing regional cartographic products for distribution to mobile map applications and Regional/National databases
•Create basic PowerPoint and other report style graphics
•Additional project work may be assigned due to changing priorities.

CONTRACTOR PERSONNEL SECURITY AND SUITABILITY REQUIREMENTS
The following forms and inquiries, or their equivalent, will be used to initiate the credentialing process:

•Release to Obtain Credit Information
•PIV card application

If selected to fill the position, a candidate would be required to pass a drug screen and satisfy the requirements of a National Criminal History Check (NCHC) to verify the identity of the individual applying for clearance and to determine the individual’s suitability for the position.

The position may require occasional travel.
