Title: GIS Analyst

This candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Companys ESRI based Geographic Information System (GIS) and
for providing a high level of technical support, and services to personnel of Unite Private Networks on the
Specific responsibilities include:
The GIS Analyst will routinely and independently perform, with technical and policy guidance on unusual or
complex problems, the following:
Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Company's specialized and
dedicated GIS/Fiber Management System.
Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to trouble-shoot and resolve problems with specialized
GIS systems; recommends solutions.
Maintain and validate the data integrity and accuracy of the Company's GIS with respect to property
information, customer data, fiber facilities and equipment by reconciling information gathered from
various company documents, processes, employees and outside agencies. May involve mapping
research in the field or in the office. Enter new map data using digital files, hard copy graphics, such
as as-builts, CAD drawings, or job maps as well as through digitizing and data entry.
Participate in the development of long-range planning goals relating to the Company's GIS, computer
hardware and software requirements including upgrades, software and output/reporting processes.
Produce, develop and deliver map products and related documents as requested for all departments.
Demonstrated abilities to operate a variety of related equipment such as plotter, printer, digital
camera, and GPS unit.
Support the Director of Fiber Management by acting as back-up in GIS related issues.
Support GIS by acting as a technical liaison between GIS and other departments.
Improve process workflow, manpower efficiencies, and software utilization for system management
assisting in research, evaluation, and further development of integrated data management systems.
Test, maintain, and monitor GIS programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of GIS
programs and systems.
Maintain technical documents. Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test
procedures, and quality standards.
Provide users with assistance solving GIS related problems.
Work independently as well as part of a team to ensure deadlines are met.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirement for the position include:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Geography, or related field from an accredited four-year college
or university plus a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing GIS
Bachelors degree in Business Administration with equivalent course work and certification from a
vocational or technical school, in geographic information systems, geography, planning or computer
science plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience providing GIS functions
Demonstrate positive interpersonal and customer service skills to courteously deal with and to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other UPN employees, outside
vendors and the public.
Ability to work in a multi-task work environment, with constant interruptions and distractions
while maintaining and meeting strict deadlines.
Attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills and knowledge of basic arithmetic
Must be able to learn departmental operating procedures and programs and must be able to
interpret, apply and explain all applicable rules and regulations.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to make independent decisions using sound judgement.
Ability to communicate in a professional business-like manner, both orally and in writing. Must
understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to operate office equipment to perform expected job duties. Must
demonstrate the ability to handle confidential or private information with maturity.
Knowledge of SQL or related RDBMS skills including Database theory.
Experience in application integration, database architecture, data modeling, and data
normalization in an SQL database environment.
builder and other spatial data processing skills. Custom widget development experience in ESRIs
Web AppBuilder platform is required.
Thorough knowledge of cartography including scaling and converting cartographic information to
digital format is required.
Must be able to interpret and explain technical concepts and instruct users on concepts and
procedures for GIS integrated systems, applications and software.
Must be familiar, or quickly become familiar with fiber networks, symbols and terminology.
Thorough knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and related SQL database systems.
Knowledge of ArcSDE and Geodatabase concepts and database design.
Familiarity of the ArcGIS suite of tools.
Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and programming experience preferred.
Ability to adhere to Company policies, goals and objectives.
