Title: GIS Solution Engineer
Location: Washington DC
At GeoCGI, a Solution Engineer is a technical hands-on manager and consultant responsible for designing, managing and delivering geospatial solution for our clients. This position uses technical management and GIS skills to develop advanced geospatial systems, provide technical leadership, and support our clients with innovative and technically sound solutions. The Solution Engineer is responsible for requirements gathering, capacity planning, system design, implementation, and compliance. They assist with managing and administering Oracle and MS SQL Server database implementations. They will improve data maintenance and management processes through Geodatabase administration, tuning, configuring and script/query services. The candidate is experienced in developing with Microsoft technologies with experience in networking, Windows Server, IT Security and IIS. The candidate must be able to communicate complex and highly technical concepts with senior leadership for business and proposal development. The candidate will execute the responsibilities of a Solution Engineer supporting Federal and DoD Geospatial Programs, which include:
Support the design, development, and implementation of enterprise GIS solutions.
Apply enterprise design methodology and best practices to define business, application, data, and infrastructure solution approaches, recommendations, and technical requirements
Technical leadership and administration of an enterprise geodatabase and RDBMS environments.
Conduct reviews, assessments, and document design recommendations in reports, presentations, and white papers
Review existing geospatial enterprise systems and provide recommendations, considerations, and improvements in systems design, application technology, operational performance, system administration, and technology migration
A strong understanding of information technologies including web services, RDBMS, networking, and storage technologies
Automation to improve data access and management procedures.
Implement backup and recovery procedures
Communicate standards, methods, quality assurance/control processes, and metrics required.
The following are requirements of the potential candidate:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, GIS, or computer related field
Demonstrated proficiency with ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS/ArcGIS Online
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance
The following are desired capabilities and experience of the potential candidate:
5 to 10 Years experience in ESRI ArcGIS environments with multi-user Geodatabase administration
Certifications (GISP, Security+, Esri, Microsoft, PMP)
ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and Portal for ArcGIS Administration
Experience with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, IIS,.NET, C#)
Experience with Python, T-SQL, SQL, PL/SQL, or other RDBMS tools
Experience in Information Assurance
Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems
Excellent writing and communication skills
