Location: NJ Based (Flanders, Hackensack, or Wall)
Brief Description: The Senior GIS Analyst compiles, manipulates, and analyzes GIS geospatial data and creates maps, applications, and visualizations to meet project requirements. Develops, manages, and presents spatial data using Esri ArcGIS software. This position will provide GIS expertise, support, assistance, and guidance to organizational staff and external clients.
The Senior GIS Analyst contributes to GIS projects, applying diversified knowledge of GIS principles and practices to moderately complex assignments. This position focuses on creating advanced maps, applications, and visualizations; conducting in-depth spatial analyses; and developing and maintaining geodatabases. The Senior GIS Analyst collaborates with project teams and stakeholders to develop efficient workflows and deliverables, ensuring that project goals are met.
Operates with moderate supervision, receiving general instructions on desired project outcomes and guidance for more complex or non-routine tasks. Independently manages routine assignments and collaborates with their direct supervisor and stakeholders to address technical challenges or evolving project needs. Consults with their direct supervisor for input on critical decisions or innovative approaches.
Examples of work/duties
• Perform advanced spatial analyses and develop maps, applications, and visualizations tailored to complex project needs.
• Design, create, and manage geodatabases, ensuring data quality and integrity across large and diverse datasets.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to define project requirements and translate them into GIS deliverables.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to GIS Technician and Analyst team members, promoting skill development.
• Lead GIS components of multidisciplinary projects, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
• Troubleshoot and resolve GIS data and software-related issues independently.
• Contribute to project planning by assisting with scoping, resource allocation, and schedule development.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of GIS workflows, maps, and applications to maintain the highest quality standards.
• Research and recommend emerging GIS tools and technologies to improve workflows and outcomes.
• Present GIS findings and methodologies in client meetings, project updates, or professional presentations. Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the technical work of a project team of GIS Technicians and GIS Analyst I’s. May be asked to estimate staffing needs and schedules and assign work to meet completion date.

Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):
• Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• 8+ years of professional GIS experience
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro desktop software
• Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Online, including Field Maps, Survey123, Experience Builder, and Dashboards
• Strong understanding of geodatabase management, including database design and maintenance
• Proficiency in Python scripting for data manipulation and automation
• Proficiency in Arcade scripting for advanced map, label, and visualization customization
• Working knowledge of SQL Server or similar relational database systems for data integration and analysis
• Understanding of field data collection using high accuracy GNSS equipment
• Strong understanding of GIS and mapping standards, with experience supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of metadata documentation and quality assurance protocols
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior team members in developing GIS workflows and deliverables
• Encouraged to actively participate in professional societies and present or publish GIS work to share expertise and support professional growth
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
This is a full-time position based out of either our Flanders, Hackensack, or Wall, New Jersey office. We are open to a hybrid work arrangement.
