Avid Core is seeking a GIS Analyst/Specialist with experience utilizing geographic information systems to support a federal government client in Washington, D.C. We’re looking for a passionate, detail-oriented person interested in supporting an international global security program.



The position offers hybrid work flexibility, working from a home location and client location with the expectation of attending meetings at the client site in D.C. as required.

Salary Range: $80,000-$110,000, based on experience and qualifications. 



Overall Responsibilities: 

Supports government operations to perform geographic information system activities; requirements analysis and development; support field activities; and ancillary activities required to acquire and deploy equipment and maintain facilities.

Supports the creation and maintenance of GIS products both printed and web-based solutions for client

Perform complex analysis and mapping projects to support international security operations

Communicate technical information to non-technical computer users, through visualizations, written or orally.

Identify GIS data or use client data to develop GIS datasets for map creation, analysis and publishing for interactive Web products.

The products and deliverables vary from day to day with a steam stream of routine products and ad-hoc requests

Support development of Sharepoint, PowerBI tools, and informational databases.

Performs other responsibilities as assigned





Qualifications/Skills: 

Candidates shall have a strong understanding of GIS and database fundamentals documented experiences using ESRI ArcGIS Suite of tools to include:



ArcGIS Pro (desktop):

GIS Data development, editing and use of geoprocessing tools for Analysis (geoprocessing)

FGDC Metadata compliant

Map (Layout) /or other graphic visualizations



ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcGIS Online:

Creating/Publishing/Sharing content within client Enterprise instance

Developing WebMaps and configuring StoryMaps, Dashboards or Web Experiences

5+ years of GIS experience supporting a Federal Agency

Self-starter that can work independently to identify and/or develop GIS content and products preemptively for the client.

Ability to develop GIS Maps or Webapps for client needs, either in ad-hoc (short turn) or longer ongoing project-based capacity.

Tracking client requests, managing deliverables, creating GIS SOPs and monthly status reports

Willingness and ability to mentor/share knowledge GIS/ESRI best practices with newer GIS users.

Attend client Meetings and screenshare/present maps or analysis as needed

Ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues in various roles and subject fields.

Utilize GIS Resources within client Organization or other Federal partner organizations

Experience in International support is preferred

Proficiency with the full Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint)

Experience with using MS Teams or other for meetings 

Existing U.S. Customs and Border Protection public trust security clearance or existing Top Secret or Secret clearance desired



Nice to have these skills:

GIS/Tabular data prep experience, such as cleaning/processing/aggregating from multiple sources and formats, (Knowledge of R or Python is a bonus).

Experience configuring and maintaining ESRI Sites/Hub and ESRI Solutions (ie Security Operations)

Experience with Power BI tools, such as analyzing data, developing dashboards and/or ESRI integration.

Education: 

BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Computer Science or other related field w/ 8-10 years GIS experience

Location: 

This is a hybrid position. The candidate must be able to commute to the client location on a routine basis and be available for ad-hoc meetings. Candidates will be provided a computer, however must have steady internet connection, and a phone.
