Join Sanborn’s award-winning team! Sanborn is looking for a GIS Rangeland Data Specialist to work onsite with our federal government client in Lakewood, Colorado where the primary responsibilities will be to apply their knowledge of natural resource management and GIS expertise to refine rangeland monitoring sampling design processes, manage natural resource data, document standard operating procedures and workflows, and ensure data quality for a variety of terrestrial and aquatic monitoring projects. Primary tasks will involve cleanup of sample design databases and of photo archives. The perfect Candidate for this position is someone with high attention to detail and the ability to function independently after initial instruction. The position is located in Lakewood, CO. Travel of 3 trips per year is also anticipated.

•Bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field such as, but not limited to, ecology, natural resources management, wildlife biology, botany, forestry, fisheries, soils, etc. from an accredited university.
•Minimum of four (4) years of directly related intensive and progressive experience
•Two (2) years of implementing field-based natural resources monitoring programs.

Demonstrate capacity to fulfill the following required skills:
•Experience of more than 4 years with ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop software. Preference will be given to the candidate(s) demonstrating at least 1 year experience using ArcGIS Desktop 10.4 or higher.
•Experience working with vegetative and soils natural resources monitoring data of upland systems to inform determination of condition.
•Professional experience of more than 2 years implementing field-based natural resources monitoring programs.
•At least 2 years’ experience with the implementation of a large scale vegetative monitoring program.
•Knowledge of monitoring data management both in the field and in the office.
•Ability to manage complex projects, including project management skills, skills in separating tasks, skills in organizing and facilitating manager and technical work groups.
•Ability to communicate technical information effectively to lay persons and resource specialists alike.
•Ability in developing written technical documentation (such as reports, training materials, whitepapers, etc.)

The candidate shall conduct the following tasks:
•Processes and maintain photos, sample design implementation data, and field data related to rangeland monitoring.
•Supports implementation of sampling designs for rangeland monitoring.
•Organizes data and performs data management with database software, GIS (geographic information systems), and statistical software.
•Supports dissemination of information about the AIM program through the creation of supplemental materials such as maps, reports, diagrams, charts, etc.
•Assists the national terrestrial and aquatic ecologists within AIM by preparing and cleaning data products.
•Attends regular meetings to review work progress and schedule as well as meetings which pertain to the supported program/projects listed above (i.e., AIM, etc.)
•Assists with the use of vegetative and soils monitoring data of upland and lentic systems and aquatic data for lotic systems to inform determination of condition.
•Provides technical assistance to end users accessing and using geospatial tools.
•Effectively communicates complex technical problems and solutions to non-technical partners and user base.
•Helps enforce national naming convention of ArcGIS Server GIS Services, filename, and folder.
•Submits weekly report which summarizes finished and ongoing tasks.
•Assists with Aquatic AIM data and other data management when required.

The following forms and inquiries, or their equivalent, will be used to initiate the credentialing process:
•OPM Standard Form 85 or 85P
•National Criminal History Check (NCHC)
•Release to Obtain Credit Information
•PIV card application

If selected to fill the position, a candidate would be required to pass a drug screen and satisfy the requirements of a National Criminal History Check (NCHC) to verify the identity of the individual applying for clearance and to determine the individual’s suitability for the position.
