Position Description:

The survey technician assists the Registered Land Survey in the planning and mobilization of Ground Control GPS Surveys (GCS) and Ground Based LiDAR and Terrestrial 3d Scanning Missions (GBL).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adjust and operate surveying instruments such as GPS receivers and base stations
Compile information such necessary to support projects for mapping activities
Set out and recover stakes, marks, and other monumentation, search for section corners, property irons, and survey points
Place Control targets
Record survey measurements and descriptive data, using notes, pictures, drawings, sketches,
Perform calculations to determine earth curvature corrections, atmospheric impacts on measurements, traverse closures and adjustments, azimuths, level runs, and placement of markers.
Ascertain the locations of natural features and human-made structures on the Earth's surface, underground, using surveying instruments.
Processes the Ground Control Survey information on a daily and project basis.
Compile data into GPS Network solutions.
Responsible for personal travel plans and logistics to meet daily job requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to lift, tilt or move equipment up to 50lbs.
Must possess valid driverís license to use rental or company vehicle(s) and must be insurable under company insurance coverage.
Must be able to travel generally and drive vehicles over extended distances using independent decision and judgment capabilities to travel.

US Passport required to travel internationally.
Must be able to hike in rough terrain.

EDUCATION:
Minimum High School diploma. Associates degree or higher preferred in survey engineering or similar related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Previous outdoor work experience
Survey Licensure or PLS preferred
Domestic travel experience preferred
Experience with computers, digital phones, and using a computer network

Position: Part-time (working up to 1600 hours annually)
