Position Description:

geocgi is looking for a GIS Solution Engineer to be a technical hands-on manager and consultant responsible for designing, managing and delivering geospatial solutions for our clients, on-site in Palo Alto, CA. This position uses technical management and GIS skills to develop advanced geospatial systems, provide technical leadership, and support our clients with innovative and technically sound solutions. The Solution Engineer is responsible for requirements gathering, capacity planning, system design, implementation, and compliance. The candidate will execute the responsibilities of a GIS Solution Engineer, which include:

• Implementing proven IT/GIS strategies for platform architecture
• Experience with high availability systems and troubleshooting platform issues
• Designing architecture solutions to support multiple systems feeding data into ArcGIS Enterprise
• Understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise scaling and implications
• Designing and implementing configuration solutions to meet day-to-day operations and special events
• Working closely and actively with customers and partners to identify, design, and certify key GIS workflows for the ArcGIS enterprise platform
• Experience with ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro
• Experience with Virtual Machine infrastructure and management

The following are requirements of the potential candidate:

• Bachelor’s or master’s in geography, computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field, depending on position level
• Demonstrated proficiency with ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS/ArcGIS Online

The following are desired capabilities and experience of the potential candidate:

• 8+ years’ experience designing, implementing, and/or administrating Esri enterprise GIS solutions/systems
• Certifications (GISP, Security+, Esri, Microsoft, PMP)
• ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and Portal for ArcGIS Administration
• Experience with enterprise geodatabase management
• Knowledge of Cloud services and concepts
• Experience using REST and web service endpoints to create secure web applications
• Experience developing web applications using ArcGIS API for JavaScript or other JavaScript mapping APIs
• Experience with Python, T-SQL, SQL, PL/SQL, or other RDBMS tools
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems
• Excellent writing and communication skills
