We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team to support NOAA working on the SatBathy tool and SDB Cloud processing initially (2021) and then interoffice projects as well as other internal NGS projects as needed and in a priority order. This task requires an experienced software engineer to rewrite the Satbathy tool, create a modular program that will allow additional science scripts to be added without breaking the tool and document the code for this new program. In parallel to this effort, NGS requires a software engineer to help set up and test SDB processing on the cloud for bigger areas of interest and for change analysis. Start date: June 1, 2021.
Cloud or Cloud migration - process of moving data to different clouds (windows and Linux)
Software development, relational database systems
Container technologies (docker etc.)
Google Earth Engine, etc.
Version control, i.e. GitHub, etc.
Designing, creating, maintaining graphical user interfaces (GUIs)
Experience with setting up a framework of modules that can be updated without breaking the code
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience working in the Cloud
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Experience with NOAA applications and data is highly desired
Minimum of 10+ years of application development experience and a Masters Degree
Certification in an object-oriented programming language such as Java is preferred.
