Title: GIS Analyst

Lead GIS efforts for the Upper Mid-West Business Unit for various project types, including solid waste, electric utility, and environmental management. Conduct assignments in an office setting with occasional field work. Exercise independent judgement and complete assigned tasks with little to no direction.
Work with Business Unit staff, SCS National GIS Coordinator and other GIS experts in other Business Units.
May work independently or in conjunction with other staff to complete assigned tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complete data management, analysis, and visualization.
Evaluate and interpret field data.
Discover and display patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data.
Design digital maps with geographic data and other data sources for reporting and presentations.
Interact with and support a project team that is developing computer applications using spatial data.
Conduct and document data quality assurance reviews.
Develop, organize, and manage geodatabases.
Provide GIS support to multiple business markets, in numerous office locations.
Serve as the lead resource for GIS-related topics and technical issues related to GIS software in the assigned Business Unit.
Implement national GIS initiatives and standards at the Business Unit level.
Stay up to date on GIS software and technology advancements.
Communicate with both internal and external clients for GIS work coordination, project updates, reporting and meetings.
Provide technical mentoring and training to co-workers and clients.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient in ESRI GIS software to manage, analyze, and visualize geographic data.
Strong understanding of database management.
Advanced GIS troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Competent with GPS equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
High attention to detail.
Bachelorís degree in GIS, Geography, or related discipline required.
GISP certification is preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of GIS experience is required.
Valid Driverís License with a driving record in good standing is required.
