Role: Geospatial Software Engineer

Role Summary: The Geospatial Software Engineer will use their understanding of GIS software as well as software engineering and programming for GIS systems in large computer and minicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting broad base of applications. They will perform software coding and write software documentation to design specifications; design and implement data conversion procedures and perform software and database quality control; and ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of systems. They will design and develop QA/QC programs and oversee design and code reviews, database reviews, and other QA/QC activities throughout the project life cycle. They will perform detailed software design and detailed database conversion design and are directly involved in the coding and implementation of the more complex and strategic portions of application software and database conversion projects.

Essential Functions:
• Work in a cloud infrastructure, preferrable Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Develop AI/ML algorithms/tools that processes multiple point cloud scans, detects planar surfaces and suggests content to fill in gaps in point clouds in ArcGIS.
• Design and develop Geospatial AI techniques and methods.
• Improve ease of use of Esri AI/ML tools for basic users including but not limited to enabling users to execute AI/ML via wizards, profiles, drop down menus or user entered variables via a connected and disconnected environment in ArcGIS and ArcPro.
• Develop spatially explicit artificial intelligence algorithms, tools and techniques.
• Identify AI/ML or Deep Neural Networks (DNN) technology that can be used to detect, track, and characterize changes in geospatial data.

Experience Required:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in related industry is preferred
• MUST possess a SECRET level clearance.
• 2+ years' experience developing software for geospatial applications with a heavy emphasis in Esri technology.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise cloud deployment and operation
• Strong thought leadership to help conceptualize novel solutions
• AI/ML Python familiarity with Keras, Tensorflow, Fast.ai, or similar
• Familiarity with Docker
• Demonstrated experience working with various database constructs (RDBMS, graph)
Ideal (in addition to required experience):
• DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirements; distributed systems, modeling and simulation, and resource utilization assessment.

Work Environment:
• Location: Remote with travel to the Northern Virginia region.
• Travel: Domestically up to 20%
