Spatial Services is a team of fifteen staff within the IT Division supporting countywide GIS at the enterprise level. This includes building and maintaining GIS applications and integrations, managing a spatial database of over 1400 datasets for the county, and providing advanced training and support for approximately 1000 GIS users. We host 600+ GIS web services and support a diverse set of business needs with location-based technology including GPS and drones. We collaborate and partner with GIS professionals and users in the County departments and many regional organizations to understand and meet their needs. We also provide the public with applications and GIS data to assist them with their business needs.

Your Future in this Role:
The IT Division has access to numerous training opportunities, which include peer, industry, vendor, and official Pierce County training as well as access to established procedures, standards, practices, and system documentation. Our training program is designed to help you develop as both a professional in your role as a GIS web developer and as a Pierce County employee. Your work will directly impact your community and offers a great foundation for future positions within the IT Division and Pierce County.

Core responsibilities:
-GIS web application development and system integration/implementation.
-Application management including design, development, implementation and maintenance, documentation and use of code repositories, creation and maintenance of procedural documentation, training for user department staff and user support as needed.
-Program, maintain, enhance, integrate and support GIS business systems/programs.
-Successfully troubleshoot system and application issues and identify creative solutions to answer needs.
-Assist senior GIS staff on large scale or complex projects.

Current Projects:
-New web application development and upgrades that utilize ESRI’s JavaScript API 4.x, TypeScript, React framework and ESRI’s Experience Builder developer edition technology. There are a wide variety of applications in this category in the areas of land services, emergency management, commercial investment, community equity, utilities, surface water management, etc.
-Maintenance and feature enhancements of existing web applications using Web App Builder, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
-Constant improvement in code deployment and code management processes, security, and documentation.

Qualifications
GISPE1 $34.35 – $49.32 per hour, non-exempt

-Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Geography or related field AND
-Two or more years of Information Technology/GIS experience
-Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements

GISPE2 $80,381 – $116,420 annually, exempt

-Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Geography or related field AND
-Four or more years of Information Technology/GIS experience
-Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

-Demonstrated experience and knowledge with the Esri platform.
-Application development experience in the following programming technologies:
--JavaScript API 3.x/4.x, Esri WebAppBuilder developer edition (TypeScript and Esri Experience Builder experience would be an asset)
--Esri ArcGIS Pro based ArcPy library (ArcMap based ArcPy experience will be considered).
--Esri ArcGIS Pro .Net SDK (ArcMap based ArcObjects experience will be considered. Experience with ArcGIS Pro SDK based development is desirable).

Special Requirements:
-Positions in specific program areas may require program-related experience, education, and/or training
-A valid Washington State Driver's License may be required when travel is required of the position
