Job Summary
Performs regular updates to electric distribution model data in Esri ArcGIS/Futura GIS environment; communicates regularly with GIS Supervisor to develop and maintain GIS databases; integrates new data returned from field verification efforts and development projects in a variety of formats (shapefile, CAD, Excel, etc.); routinely performs spatial and tabular analysis for data quality assurance in GIS and integrated data repositories; conducts thorough research into property records; occasionally participates in field data collection. Employee is expected to be able to draw from experience and expertise in GIS to effectively assist in implementing asset data collection and development and maintenance of databases, and to
take initiative to broaden expertise in GIS and GPS technology. Employee reports administratively to the GIS Supervisor, and receives functional guidance and assignments from the GIS Supervisor.

Essential Functions
Utilizes Esri ArcGIS platform to compile and audit infrastructure asset data; processes compiled field verification data, performs edits and updates on existing GIS databases, performs data quality control, and identifies and obtains missing or otherwise needed infrastructure data; performs intermediate tabular data analysis in Microsoft Excel and Access; reads and creates electric distribution maps, and compiles data packages in a variety of formats; performs research on historic property owner information in order to accurately map right-of-way easements for power supply lines; maintains system component data in asset management software, cross-references consumer information system to ensure consistency between
integrated data sources, and corrects modeling errors as reported by engineering and system operations staff and software; occasionally interacts with organizational staff to provide user training, software/hardware support, and operational support to other FELPS departments; assists GIS Supervisor in technology deployment to further enhance workflows and maximize efficiencies.

Minimum Qualifications
• Two or four year degree in Geographic Information Sciences or equivalent field from an accredited educational institution preferred
• Knowledge of electric distribution system principles and design preferred
• Computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite, asset management software
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated effective decision making and possesses intermediate math skills
• Ability to maintain composure and commitment to work during periods of heavy workload and willing to work extra hours as needed
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The employee will be required to work both in an office and outdoor setting. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds,
fine dexterity, foot controls (driving), vision, hearing and talking. Working conditions may involve extended time in variable or adverse weather conditions as well as exposure to vehicle traffic, general construction hazards, heavy equipment and rough terrain. Post job offer physical,
