Become a GIS Technical Senior Specialist in Transmission & Distribution and build a better tomorrow. In this job you’ll play a key role in ensuring and enabling Transmission & Distribution (T&D) technology capabilities in Distribution Circuit Mapping. Distribution Circuit Mapping is responsible for the maintenance of the as-built schematic state of the high voltage (Primary) distribution network in GE Smallworld. The system directly supports enterprise level activities, including planned and emergent operations for Distribution. In addition, the system supports critical activities associated with Transformer Connectivity including Customer Notifications for outages, SCE’s Wildfire Operations including Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and Wildfire compliance reporting.

As a GIS Technical Senior Specialist, you will use your technical and communication skills to work with multiple groups in Transmission & Distribution to drive technical process improvements, improve data integrity while being a Subject Matter Expert representing Circuit Mapping. All while managing and maintaining workloads, building trust, driving safety, and acting with integrity. The Distribution Circuit Mapping organization has the responsibility to ensure the accuracy and continuity of circuit maps throughout our service territory. Circuit Maps enhance both our safe work environment and reliability of service to our 4.9 million customers. The distribution system is a vast network covering over 50 thousand square miles with almost 5000 circuits. The position will:

Performs geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, management, and analysis.
Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be leveraged for stakeholders and business partners.
Perform in-depth analyses, develops recommendations, and provides consultative services on an as-needed basis to address complex problems/issues.
Develop feedback mechanism and continuous improvement framework for performance reporting and operational oversight.
Monitors and tracks data remediation and all Inbound Project Requests. Use technical and communication skills to acknowledge receipt of incoming requests, define the scope and requirements of final deliverables, establish reasonable and attainable deadlines, set clear expectations, and to communicate routine status updates.
Work with stakeholders to develop business capabilities and software solutions to improve efficiency of operations. Ensure software solutions are aligned with business strategy and users’ requirements. Coordinate enhancements and implementation with IT.

The essentials

Five or more years of experience working with two or more of the following applications: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map3D, ArcMap, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, ESRI Viewers, or Google Earth.

The preferred

Typically has three or more years of experience working on projects that involve the electric distribution system.
Strong working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems, especially as they relate to Power-flow. (G.E. Smallworld Spatial Technologies and/or ESRI Solutions)
Knowledge of SAP Transactions
Experience consulting with clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results.
Experience implementing widespread change impacts.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project.
Experience integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to clients.
Experience in resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning. Skills, education and experience

You should know

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
