Position Description:

Spatial Front Inc. (SFI) is looking for a GIS Analyst w/Python Scripting, a candidate with software development capability to apply hydrographic science business logic throughout the software development life cycle within our client's Hydrographic Systems and Technology Branch.

Primary Responsibilities:
The developer will work within a team to develop and apply new technology and methods to increase the capabilities, efficiencies, and accuracy of the current data model and workflow for the National Bathymetric Source project within the Office of Coast Survey. Technologies used are Python, Postgres, GitHub and QGIS. The candidate will be involved with all phases of automated workflow development, including design, algorithm and software development, testing and documentation. Some work will be performed in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The scientist will be working with different data formats, databases, and workflows that require significant software development.

Requirements
--BS in hydrography, ocean mapping, physical science, marine science, oceanography, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, related discipline, or equivalent.
--5-7 years of experience with data analysis and an understanding of GIS and data management techniques.
--Knowledge and experience with software development, including Python, Integrated Development
Environments, debugging principles, continuous integration testing, and automated documentation.
--Knowledge and experience with databases and queries in PostgreSQL.
--Knowledge and experience with geospatial applications, such as QGIS, libraries, such as GDAL, and OGC web services.
--Knowledge and experience with horizontal and vertical datums as well as transformations in the context of point and raster data.
--Knowledge and experience with version control best practices and experience with version control software such as Git.
--Experience developing mapping standards and techniques, and improving data management and access.
--Knowledge and experience with container-based software development and deployment platforms.
--Good written and oral communication skills.

--In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be US Citizen and/or Current Green Card Holder.

Other Information:
--The salary for this position is $70,000 - $84,000 annually, dependent upon a candidates overall qualifications.
