Position Description:

The Water & Environmental Research Institute (WERI) of the Western Pacific at the University of Guam (UOG) is one of 54 National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) established under the Water Resources Research Act (WRRA) of 1964, as amended in 1984, and supported by the USGS 104b Program. WERI is the only regional water resources research institute serving three jurisdictions including Guam, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). WERI is also supported by Guam Legislature for Guam Hydrological Survey (GHS) and the Comprehensive Water Monitoring Program (CWMP). WERI is hiring two graduate research assistants. One RA will focus on GIS-based analysis and modeling of salinity levels of the groundwater in the northern Guam lens aquifer (NGLA), and the other one will work on establishing a GIS-based method to update the existing groundwater protection zone (GPZ) in the NGLA.
